There are many different types of liposuction options available out there for the person who is looking to get rid of stubborn fat. You can choose to undergo traditional, water-assisted or ultrasound-assisted liposuction procedures.
SmartLipo is one of the more recent developments in the liposuction industry. The name has been trademarked by the manufacturer to represent the industry’s “leading laser-assisted lipolysis.”
In layman’s terms, lipolysis just means cell rupture. So, SmartLipo increases the effectiveness of traditional liposuction by using a laser to break apart fat cells. This makes it much easier to remove stubborn fat. This is also called fat liquefaction.
The Updated SmartLipo Procedure
During a SmartLipo procedure, a small incision is made to make way for the laser probe that is used in the fat liquefaction. Through that incision, the laser probe is inserted and moved around through the fat layer under your skin.
The probe sends out a light beam that is powerful enough to break open and melt fat cells without causing damage to the surrounding tissues and blood vessels. Because of this, there tends to be less bleeding, swelling and bruising during and after the procedure.
After the liquefaction has taken place, the fat is removed through a cannula that is smaller than the one that is used in traditional lipo. Because of this, there are reports that there are less scars left behind by the SmartLipo procedure.
Many reports made regarding SmartLipo claim that this laser-assisted liposuction is a “minimally invasive procedure.” Because of this, it is being said that SmartLipo can be done simply with a numbing fluid.
While this isn’t wholly incorrect, it depends more on your own pain tolerance level. You do have the option to ask for a type of anesthesia that will be more effective in taking the edge off of the procedure. These can come in the form of oral sedation, intravenous sedation or even general anesthesia.
Talk With Las Vegas Plastic Surgeons
If you have been considering traditional liposuction in the past, consider upgrading to SmartLipo. As long as you are close to your ideal weight, this procedure can help you sculpt and contour your body to give you the sleek and slender look you’ve been working towards.
Just keep in mind that, while the procedure may be advertised as “minimally invasive,” there are still side effects that can result from the procedure. Pain, mild to moderate discomfort and even skin burns are possible complications that you may experience from any laser-assisted procedure.
